NEW YORK -- A start-up home decorating manufacturer has sued Fieldcrest Cannon Inc. over a grip for holding slipcovers in place.
The nine-count suit filed in Manhattan federal court by PRescient Partners charges Fieldcrest Cannon, based in Eden, N.C., and its subsidiary, Sure Fit Inc., with patent infringement, misappropriation of trade secrets, fraudulent misrepresentation, false marking, false advertising and unfair competition.
The subject of the suit is a device PRescient calls the "tuck-once grip," for which Paula Riley, managing general partner of PRescient, was issued patent number 5,547,249 on Aug. 20.
