Sharp: we don't do Windows.(Sharp Electronics Corp. handheld computers do not run on Microsoft's Windows CE)

LAS VEGAS -- Sharp Electronics Corp. unveiled the latest entry in its Zaurus line of handheld computers. But unlike other handhelds shown at Comdex, Sharp's unit does not run on Windows CE, a scaled-down version of Windows 95.
Many in the industry are crediting Windows CE with reviving interest in the handheld category, which so far has not had strong mainstream success. But that may change.
Mary Repke, Sharp's director of marketing, sees a benefit in the sudden inclusion of competitors. "Microsoft has helped heighten the awareness level, which gives us broader focus," she said.
Sharp has no plans to incorporate Windows CE into the Zaurus. "From our experience," said Repke, "we believe our operating system works the way the user wants." She added...
