Gregg Appliances Inc's planned acquisition of Sun Television and Appliance for $87 million may create a powerful company that will be able to compete in the retail market. This new company, which has not yet been named, will specialize in selling major appliances and consumer electronics. The acquisition offers many advantages for Gregg, including the acquisition of all 50 of Sun's retail units, none of which overlap the markets for Gregg's 18 stores. The new company will be privately held.
