Intel launches MMX multimedia ad blitz.

NEW YORK -- Intel Corp. kicked off an MMX advertising blitz. Yesterday, for the first time, it aired commercials during the Super bowl, marking the begin- ning of a campaign to build consumer awareness of PCs powered by its Pentium processors that feature MMX.

Explaining exactly what MMX -- an instruction set built-into the micro- processor that enhances multimedia -- does to a mass market is challenging. Instead Intel is using its television commercials in combination with a print ad campaign, to pique consumer interest, and drive potential customers into retail stores to see a live demonstration of the technology.
