CHICAGO -- Doomsday is here. Midway Games Inc. released Doom 64 to retail on April 4. It is the company's fourth video game title designed for the Nintendo 64 (N64) home video game system.
According to Midway, Toys 'R' Us, Electronics Boutique, Kay-Bee Toys, Software Etc. and Babbage's began taking DOOM 64 presell orders from gamers.
Midway confirmed that these presell orders and initial shipping orders have been strong.
Doom features designed specifically for N64 include new weapons and monsters, 30 new Nintendo-only levels, and an updated soundtrack.
Midway's previous Nintendo 64 video game software titles include the Mortal Kombat Trilogy.
