Nordstrom here has begun testing a customer loyalty program, offering frequent-shopper incentives to a select portion of its credit customers.
Retailers such as Neiman Marcus, Saks and Sears have also begun to put greater emphasis on customer loyalty programs, rewarding shoppers based on frequency and dollar amounts of purchases and using data collected on customer shopping habits for targeted marketing campaigns.
Paula Stanley, a spokeswoman for Nordstrom, declined to cite specifics of the program but did note that the test, which began earlier this month, involves a limited segment of customers who currently have Nordstrom department store credit cards.
