HomeBase Plans to OpenHome Improvement Stores

HomeBase Inc. plans to open three 110,000-square-foot home improvement retail stores in California and one in Phoenix. The company said it expects to open the Norco, Cal.; Norwalk, Cal.; and Phoenix sites in the first half of 1999 and a Los Angeles site in late 1999 or early 2000. Separately, HomeBase said it expects to open an Everett, Wash., outlet in October but delayed the opening of a second store in the same city until next year.
The home improvement retailer, which plans to open six additional stores by January 2000, currently operates 83 warehouses in 10 western states.
