One glimpse of what could be the future of consumer electronics was offered by Thomson Consumer Electronics, which recently offered a preview of some of the advanced products on the company's drawing board.

The "POP" remote control is a TV remote control that enables the user to see what else is on television while the main set is active. Major features of the product include a rechargeable base, pliable nylon antenna and wrist strap, SWAP button to switch programs from the main set to the remote and vice versa, and an internal electronics programming guide.

The "Apex" TV table is a reinterpretation of the past in that it is an attempt to bring back the era when "TVs were seen as fine furniture, while serving as the family entertainment device." The...
