KMART APPOINTS NEW CATEGORY MANAGER FOR FRAMES.

TROY, Mich.-Sue O'Dell has joined Kmart as category manager for picture frames.
She replaces Penny Olsen, who left the retailer to relocate to Illinois. No further details were available on Olsen's career plans at press time. O'Dell was tabletop buyer at Venture Stores, which is in the process of liquidating. Kmart acquired Venture's top stores.
At Kmart, O'Dell will be covering frames, lamps, wall decor, framed art, mirrors and clocks. She reports directly to divisional vice president of hard home Vincent Franco.
An industry source commented, "Venture was trying to upscale their look to be the next Kohl's, which is what Kmart is doing. Their Martha Stewart line is a hybrid: a sophisticated upstairs look at a mass merchant. It makes sense to...
