NEW YORK-Speaking at the BancBoston Robertson Stephens Consumer Conference here, TJX Co., the parent of off-price retail stores T.J. Maxx, Marshalls and HomeGoods, plans for souped-up growth for the coming years.

The retail group grew its stores from 1,171 to 1,246 in 1999, and plans for an 8.5 percent increase to 1,352 in 2000. By 2002, the company, with $8 billion in revenues, expects its store base to be 1,611.

T.J. Maxx and Marshalls, both of which carry extensive home decor, bed and bath, and kitchenware items, account for the bulk of sales and will account for the majority of new stores going forward.
