VAN NUYS, Cal.-Avi Cohen, president and owner of Veratex, has a lot more to smile about than his shiny new Lamborghini. While hard to miss, the car's presence was eclipsed by the new Veratex factory, the opening of which was celebrated here last week.

At 140,000 square feet, the new factory is more than three times the size of Veratex's previous 40,000-square-foot manufacturing facility.

The factory expansion, said Cohen, was necessary to keep pace with the dramatic growth of the young company; after several years of expanding sales, containing operations in the too-small space was a struggle. Cohen said the new factory is already almost at capacity and only half-jokingly said he would have a "second factory the same size next year."
