FAMOUS-BARR PICKS PICKELL AS PRESIDENT.

ST. LOUIS-Ira Pickell was named president and chief executive officer of Famous-Barr, a division of May Department Stores Co. John Danahy remains chairman of Famous-Barr, headquartered here.
"We are very pleased to have an executive with Ira's exceptional talent and experience joining May Company to lead Famous-Barr," said Gene Kahn, May president and chief executive officer. "Famous-Barr is a terrific franchise with a dominant position in each of its markets and is not performing up to our expectations."
Pickell has held a variety of merchandising positions in his 32-year career. He most recently served as president and CEO of Hudson Bay Department Stores, a division of the Hudson Bay Co., based in Toronto.
