MONROE, Mich.-Americans aren't the only ones who need to put their feet up at the end of a long workday. La-Z-Boy, an icon of American comfort, is betting on just that as it prepares to launch a European division to sell its famous recliners.
La-Z-Boy Europe, a partnership between La-Z-Boy Inc. and Europe's Steinhoff Group, will unveil a line of recliners specifically designed for the European market at the January 2002 International Furniture Fair in Cologne, Germany.
"The market is attractive," said John Ong, director of investor relations for La-Z-Boy. "It is about the size of the U.S. market in terms of upholstery. We have a five-year business plan and will start with four or five countries before expanding."
