The Dixie Group Sees Net Fall
The Dixie Group Inc., Chattanooga, Tenn., told Wall Street last week that net income came in at $2.8 million, or 24 cents per share, for the fourth quarter ended Dec. 29, 2001, compared with a net loss from continuing operations of $6.5 million, or 57 cents per diluted share, in the prior year. Net sales fell 9.6 percent to $123.7 million from $136.9 million in the prior year. For the year-end period, net income came in at $517,000, or 4 cents per share, compared with a net loss from continuing operations of $10.2 million, or 88 cents per share, for 2000. Net sales for 2001 dropped 5.9 percent to $534.6 million from $568.1 million in 2000.
