COMEBACK KID SHULL PUSHES FOR HANOVER'S SECOND COMING.(Hanover Direct; Tom Shull)(Statistical Data Included)

WEEHAWKEN, N.J.-When Hanover Direct brought Tom Shull on board to help it find its way out of its financial woes, they may not have been aware they were hiring a man with a monkey on his back.
"I'm a turnaround junkie," Shull told HFN. "If it's not an intense situation, I get bored."
Fortunately, there's been enough intensity for Shull at Hanover during the past year. A close brush with Chapter 11 was only of many thrills he's experienced since signing on in December 2000.
"Hanover was within weeks of going into bankruptcy, even as recently as the beginning of summer," Shull said. "But we sold Improvements [in June 2001], and the cost-cutting measures were beginning to take hold. We've had our best year since 1994."
