ATMI VOICES CONCERN ON HOMELAND SECURITY PLAN.(American Textile Manufacturers Institute )(Brief Article)

WASHINGTON-The American Textile Manufacturers Institute has expressed concern that the creation of a U.S. Department of Homeland Security may diminish or impair the U.S. Customs Service's ability to investigate, detect and interdict illicit textile and apparel trade.
"ATMI would like to caution that, in transferring the assets and authority of the U.S. Customs Service to the new Department of Homeland Security, great care should be taken to ensure that the essential mission of the Customs Service is not in any way weakened," ATMI said in a statement to the House Ways and Means Committee last month.
