EBAY CEO SEES GROWTH AHEAD.(Meg Whitman)

NEW YORK-In her keynote address at Fairchild Publications' CEO Summit, Meg Whitman, chief executive officer of eBay, said the Web site is not a retailer.
Instead, according to Whitman, eBay provides a global platform where practically anyone -- individuals, small businesses, medium businesses, big businesses, even governments -- can buy and sell practically anything.
"And today, with 40 categories and 18,000 subcategories, just about anything you're interested in you can find on eBay," she said.
In fact, Whitman revealed, there are some 150,000 people who make their living exclusively selling products on eBay, which was founded in 1995. Several million more augment their income with money they make on the site.
