Marimekko, that flower-powered textiles company from Finland, has a new, higher profile in Manhattan. Josie Chekouras has moved her dedicated Marimekko shop from a second-floor location on Madison Avenue to a ground-level, eye-popping spot on Third Avenue between 72nd and 73rd streets. The store carries Marimekko's apparel and home collections, along with yard goods and custom-order options.
Thanks in part to Crate & Barrel's offering of licensed Marimekko sheets, the bold flower prints that were introduced in the 1950s are experiencing a resurgence in popularity. ...
