DOES THE ROEBUCK STOP HERE?(Sears Roebuck)

I always used to feel sorry for Mr. Roebuck, the back end of the famous Sears, Roebuck duo who in recent years has pretty much gotten squeezed out of the picture as the company increasingly focused on just the Sears moniker. (If you're involved in creating a company using the founders' names, please take note.)

But you know, more recently, I'm starting to think that Mr. Roebuck -- Alvah to the wife and kids -- may have gotten off easy. His name may be spared from the ugly finale that seems to be going on at his former namesake.

Mind you, finales can last a long, long time, and I don't think Sears is any danger of going away anytime soon. Sadly, I also don't think Sears is any danger of going anywhere anytime soon.
