W.S. BADCOCK MARKS CENTENNIAL.(Brief Article)

MULBERRY, Fla.-With a mayoral proclamation declaring Jan. 13 "Badcock Day" here, the 330-store W.S. Badcock chain will kick off a yearlong celebration of its 100th anniversary.

Badcock Day gives company executives a chance to show off the newly opened Badcock & More store in nearby Lakeland. The 29,500-square-foot flagship store, the largest of its type, opened in November and is a prototype for future growth. In contrast to the newest store, Badcock has set up a replica of the original mercantile store that opened its doors in 1904.

During Badcock's 100th anniversary year, about 50 stores will be converted to the Badcock & More format, which includes sleep shops, outdoor living areas and flooring displays. More than 270 of Badcock's stores are...
