HIGH POINT, N.C.-Just as babies turn into children and children into adults, furniture categories grow and change, and this week at the International Home Furnishings Market here, the youth category is growing by leaps and bounds with more players jumping into the playpen.
Newcomers to the category include Hooker Furniture, with a broad introduction featuring four groups; Pulaski, with its Casa Cristina whole home collection; Orleans; and Mirador. The playing field looks to be getting a bit crowded, but established leaders in the category are confident in their positions and say there's room in the category, which continues to be a bright spot in the industry with more retailers adding floor space to the category.
