NEW YORK-Messe Frankfurt is looking to maintain -- and expand -- its position in the European trade show industry, citing increased competition and a more challenging retail and manufacturing industry.

At a briefing during the tabletop market here late last month, Nicolette Nausmann, vice president of Messe Frankfurt GmbH, outlined plans to increase attendance at its Ambiente market, and shared details of the fairground's newest show, Collectione, making its debut in June.
