AS VIETNAMESE AND SOUTH KOREAN PRODUCTION develops and expands, U.S. importers and retailers are increasingly trading with suppliers in these markets, sparking the interest of U.S. factoring firms.
In the past two years, Vietnam has shown an interest in international factoring as it has increased its position as an alternative sourcing area outside of China, said Peter Mulroy, senior vice president and international manager of trade finance at CIT Group. U.S. importers have shown increasing interest in Vietnam due in part to its cheap labor and the need to look beyond China due to restricting fill quotas associated with Chinese imports, said Mike Stanley, executive vice president at factoring firm Rosenthal & Rosenthal. ...
