SHOPKO will build its first new store in six years in Suamico, Wis. "We believe this signals that ShopKo is ready to begin its next growth phase," Mike MacDonald, ShopKo chairman and chief executive officer, said in a statement. The 80,000-square-foot store also reflects a new prototype that ShopKo will build in the future. The store is expected to open in spring 2008...BON-TON STORES will purchase four Parisian department stores and the rights for the construction of a fifth Parisian store from Belk Inc. for $22 million in cash. The four Parisian locations generated net sales in fiscal 2005 of about $90 million.
