MANCHESTER, Conn.-Ted English, former president and chief executive officer of The TJX Cos., has been named CEO of Bob's Discount Furniture, a new position. The appointment was announced last week by Bob Kaufman, president and founder of the off-price furnishings chain.
Under English's tenure at TJX, according to the announcement, the company added more than 900 stores and 50,000 employees, and had a near doubling of revenues to $15 billion.
Bob's Discount Furniture opened its 25th store last week in Nanuet, N.Y., the first store in the state. Recently, it opened a store in Warwick, R.I. All of its stores are on the Northeastern coast.
