Visit a construction site from the comfort of your office.

That's the idea Krill Co. Inc. President Shawn Dixon had after he noticed the spread of Web-linked cameras to monitor traffic and weather. Dixon had never heard of doing the same thing for a private construction project, but he thought he would try it for one of his clients.

Two years later, he's still doing it.

"We found out a camera is only a couple hundred bucks," Dixon says. "If you put it near someone who has a high-speed network, it was easy to hook up and no big deal. You just have to decide how to point it."
