A jack of all IT ... knowing a little about everything may save your business.(E-Industry)
Inside Business, February, 2005 by Hanson, Dan
Little over 100 years ago it was possible for smart people to know pretty much all there was to know. They could be up to date on physics, math, astronomy, and other sciences.
Now it's just about impossible to master and stay current in even a small subset of any of these fields. The same applies to computer technology.
Lacking even a cursory knowledge of some of the topics creating a buzz could be hazardous to your business. If you skip the article on string theory in Scientific American (I'm waiting for the movie), no problem. But if you miss out on a new technology that might help your business, there could be serious fallout.
Here are some terms I've been asked about lately.
