Procurement processes the next candidate for outsourcing's gains.(Business Process Outsourcing)

Given that many companies spend nearly half their earnings buying goods and services--this according to Boston-based Aberdeen Group--a tight rein on costs is a prime concern. Solutions providers are augmenting their procurement offerings.
According to NelsonHall, a U.K.-based research firm, the nascent procurement business process outsourcing market is expected to grow 26 percent by 2008, from $200 million to $640 million.
Recent alliances support that prediction. Specifically, A.T. Kearney Procurement Solutions announced last November it is partnering with CombineNet for enhanced analytical tools and optimization models for strategic sourcing. The solutions are integrated with the Teamcenter product life-cycle management portfolio from UGS....
