ZigBee standard could be automation future force.(Plant-Floor Wireless)

In December, following two years of development and testing, the ZigBee Alliance announced ratification of the first ZigBee specification for wireless data communications. Shortly thereafter, two alliance members--Chipcon AS, a designer of low-cost, low-power, high-performance radio-frequency chips; and Figure 8 Wireless, a provider of ZigBee-ready software and firmware--announced a merger to drive new product innovation using the standard.
