A&D giant leverages DoD experience in a developer's kit.(RFID Tools)

Aerospace & defense (A&D) contractor Northrop Grumman has staked its claim in the rapidly growing RFID space by releasing Illuminos, a developer tool kit for interfaces between popular RFID readers and enterprise systems. The kit is for those wanting to use EPCglobal's electronic product code (EPC)-compliant passive tags to meet RFID-capability mandates from customers.
The goal is to enable manufacturers to meet those mandates with minimum integration. Lawrenceville, N.J.-based EPCglobal is a consortium of 60-plus companies that have agreed on a set of standards for RFID products. Products using EPCglobal standards are interoperable.
