Intuit makes bid as enterprise player for small manufacturers.(MULTI-USER ACCOUNTING)

Performance Cruising began using Intuit's QuickBooks in 1997, but when the company nearly doubled in size in 2004, it had reached the upper limits of scalability with its accounting solution. "QuickBooks is a very easy program to learn," says Laura Herschfeld, accounting manager for the Annapolis, Md.-based maker of Gemini catamarans.

"But 1,500 items go through our shop every week, so we need a pretty robust accounting system." Early in 2005, Performance Cruising upgraded to QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions.
