ERP vendors evaluated for responsiveness to pricing issues.(SOFTWARE LICENSING)

Companies want simplified software licensing agreements with major ERP vendors, as well as greater choice and policy flexibility, says a report by Cambridge, Mass.-based Forrester Research. "They're not getting the value they want and are paying a lot of maintenance on software they might not even use," says Ray Wang, senior enterprise analyst for Forrester.
"The gap between what companies want and what vendors are offering is widening," Wang continues. "Vendors are starting to reduce concurrent user licensing, and users would prefer 'all you car eat.'" At the high end, large enterprises tend to want simpler enterprisewide licensing that accommodates actual usage to avoid overpayment. Smaller companies prefer concurrent user licensing.
