BearingPoint deal brings the big guns to enterprise search.(GOOGLE PLUS)

The announcement that McLean, Va.-based consulting powerhouse BearingPoint is opening a search-solutions practice that will build on Google's Search Appliance (GSA) is a sign that Google is serious about competing in the enterprise-search arena. BearingPoint will offer a gateway to Google technology, as well as security and authentication.

It will build adapters to integrate Google search with enterprise applications such as ERP, CRM, financials, and product life-cycle or document management; and offer customized solutions for specific industries. Originally capable of only Web searches, GSA now reaches into relational databases, security systems, portals, email, and more than 220 file formats.
