The desire to use information technology (IT) as a strategic business tool is driving interest in a set of documents known as the IT Infrastructure Libra, or ITIL. This document set contains emerging de facto standards for delivering and managing IT services within a business. "The books that make up ITIL represent industry-accepted best practices and processes for running an IT environment," says Lori Armstrong, worldwide consulting principal with Hewlett-Packard Services.
