Despite broad acceptance of the benefits of commercial software, a significant number of companies spend more than half their application budgets on custom software projects, according to a quarterly report from New York-based McKinsey. Some are even mirroring methodologies of commercial developers to minimize the cost of managing the complexities of customized software.
