Hyosung Motors and Machinery, Inc. has formed Hyosung USA, a wholly owned subsidiary based in Augusta, Ga., to import and distribute the Korean brand in the United States.
With an annual production capacity of 250,000 units, Hyosung Motors currently sells product in 85 foreign markets. The company--an offshoot of Hyosung, the textile giant--was founded as a motorcycle manufacturer in 1978; entered into a technical tie-up with Japan's Suzuki Motor Corp. in 1979; began exporting motorcycles in 1982; established its own R & D facility in 1987 to develop models under the Hyosung brand; introduced the first Korean developed motorcycle that same year; and received ISO9001 Quality Certification in 1996.
