Immigrants fearful of fallout from Ariz. voter passage of prop 200.

Passage last week of an anti-immigrant ballot measure in Arizona has unleashed a torrent of fear among immigrants who are afraid to access public services, including education.
Advocates are rushing to allay their fears, assuring them that they and their children are safe in school and that, in any event, the measure is not yet law.
Proposition 200, approved by 56 percent of Arizona voters, would require proof of citizenship and immigration status to register to vote and obtain certain government services. The soonest the measure could take effect is Nov. 22, when the Arizona secretary of state is expected to certify the vote results.
