* Schuler AG's laser division, Schuler Held Lasertechnik, Canton, MI, will deliver a dual-gantry, dual laser welding system to Tailor Steel America, Holt, MI, this year. The nonlinear, dual-head moving optics laser welder is designed around Schuler's PEDILAS concept and has two 8kW C[O.sub.2] Rofin Sinar lasers.

Said Anthony Fedewa, Tailor Steel's president, "There are similar systems that Held has built for Tailor Steel facilities in Europe, but those are single gantry systems. In the past, we had one laser welding a part, so the addition of the second laser significantly increases throughput by decreasing cycle time. It doesn't quite double the capacity, but it probably increases capacity by 80 percent." The automatic machine has in-line weld geometry profile...
