As part of its overall disaster mitigation efforts, the Federal Emergency Management Agency has teamed up with national business, insurance and law enforcement groups to educate police and investigators about a bidden disaster that often accompanies a devastating storm: fraud.
Tentatively scheduled for June, FEMA's Office of the Inspector General, in conjunction with the National Insurance Crime Bureau, the Small Business Administration, the National White-Collar Crime Center and several other insurance organizations, will begin the Disaster Fraud Training Course program, a series of educational sessions intended to inform businesses, law enforcement personnel and investigators about common fraudulent remediation tactics that are often perpetrated after a...
