Commissioner defends Isabel claim handling.(Maryland)

Responding to complaints about his department's failure to effectively aid Maryland residents who suffered damage from September's Hurricane Isabel, the state's insurance Commissioner Al Redmer praised his staff's efforts.

In the three months immediately following the hurricane, approximately 300 insurance administration staff members spent more than 8,700 hours on nothing but storm recovery issues, according to Redmer. "I couldn't have been prouder then, nor prouder now, of the dedication of the staff," he said.
