Farmers ranks most secure places to live.(Reporter's Notebook)

Those Americans concerned about the security of their homes, families, and jobs might want to consider moving to Utah's Provo-Orem area, which recently was named the most secure place to live in the United States by Farmers Insurance. Provo's per capita ratio of violent crimes was 20 percent below the national average, the researchers found.

The rankings, compiled using data from Sperling's Best Places, took into consideration the risk of natural disasters, in addition to job loss and crime statistics. Across the nation, 213 metropolitan areas, those with 200,00 or more residents, were assessed.
