Addicts of gambling, gaming, work or other behaviours exhibit the same brain processes as those addicted to substances such as drugs. These include complete preoccupation with the subject, compulsive indulgence, a growing tolerance that requires more frequent and larger 'hits', and withdrawal symptoms.
