May 31, 2006 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The first person has been charged in Western Australia (WA) under new more stringent racial vilification laws introduced in May 2005. An Aboriginal girl in Kalgoorlie is alleged to have called victim, Mellissa Blackney, a "white slut", and is facing a maximum of six months' detention.
