Roadside rubbish threat to wildlife.

ABIX via COMTEX) -- Discarded food and drink packaging and car tyres are destroying Western Australian (WA) wildlife. On 27 July 2001, WA Department of Main Roads officer, Harry Martin, says he has been compiling roadside litter statistics for eight years, and Coca Cola Amatil contributes the most, plus he says one in seven of its discarded aluminium cans captures and kills a native reptile. One in five milk cartons also kills a native animal and, in a six month clean-up period, 344,760 National Foods cartons were retrieved. Other companies represented strongly in the litter were Swan Brewery Company, Carlton & United Breweries, the Peters & Browne Group, and Bridgestone tyres.
