ABIX via COMTEX) -- Melbourne IT booked pre-tax earnings of $A2.05 million in the calendar 2001 first half. This represents a 34 per cent increase on the $A1.53 million it earned over the entire calendar 2000. Investors on 30 July 2001 again warmed to the former Australian Stock Exchange favourite, lifting its share price to $A0.60 at one stage, before it closed at $A0.58. It is a long way from the $A17 the scrip was fetching ahead of the so-called "tech wreck". The CEO of the Melbourne-based Internet domain name seller, Adrian Kloeden, also appeared guarded about the company's proposed NeuLevel joint venture with unlisted US company, NeuStar. He said a final decision must be made by 30 September 2001.
