ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Australian Internet Industry Association (AIA) says it is using the Internet as a political tool. It has warned politicians in the lead-up to the next federal election that it intends promoting the different parties' policies on a range of issues, particularly broadband Internet access, investment in Australian broadband content, digital services development and broadcasting deregulation, making the Internet safer and more secure, and electronic commerce taxation. The Australian Government has already launched a $A2.1m incentive fund, to be administered by the Australian Film Commission, which will provide seed funding to broadband content producers.
