Beer buyers benefit as Lion approaches year end.

Australasian Business Intelligence, September, 2001

Sep 21, 2001 (The Australian Financial Review

ABIX via COMTEX) -- Beer drinkers in New South Wales and Queensland are set to benefit from a discounting drive. Australasian brewer, Lion Nathan, has dropped the price of some brands in its two key markets in the lead-up to the end of its financial year on 30 September 2001. Beer business MD, Walter Bugno, said there was nothing unusual in the move, which was part of the group's normal promotional program. Lion Nathan has changed its balance date to coincide with its major shareholder, Kirin Breweries of Japan. Lion Nathan shares rose $A0.11 on 20 September, to close at $A4.71.
