Telstra aims to lead on web TV launch.

ABIX via COMTEX) -- Telstra in Australia is planning to bring television to the Internet. In November 2001, it will launch three TV-type channels, to be viewed by its broadband subscribers. The channels are RedKarpet.tv, TheCrunch.tv and Endeavour.tv. The first is for entertainment and the arts, the second for sports and the third for science and technology. The channels are being organised and developed by Telstra's content partner, Beyond Online. This is a listed company which can source content from its sister company, Beyond International. These "channels" will be available on demand and will be interactive. Revenue will come via subscription, advertising and international syndication.
