ABIX via COMTEX) -- Singapore International Airlines is scheduled to have crucial talks in Melbourne over a possible role in the future of Ansett. The talks will centre on an initial possible management role for Singapore Airlines, with a view to it possibly bidding for the airline at a later date. The talks will coincide with Singapore Airlines launching a frequent flyer reward program in Australia for international flights, in a competitive move against Qantas. Meanwhile, Qantas denied speculation that it was about to launch a discount airline in New Zealand.
