Australasian Business Intelligence, November, 2001
Nov 30, 2001 (The Australian Financial Review
ABIX via COMTEX) -- Consultancy group, Interbrand, has compiled a list of Australia's 20 most valuable brands. It concluded that Telstra's brand was by far the most valuable, assessing it as being worth $A9.4 billion. The Commonwealth Bank of Australia was judged the next most valuable brand at $A3.6 billion, followed by Westpac ($A3.6 billion), the ANZ ($A3 billion), and the National Australia Bank ($A2.3 billion). The study only assessed companies that were Australian-owned. The "complex methodology" used by Interbrand led to a number of Australia's biggest firms being excluded from its study, including Qantas, AMP and Coles Myer.
